and so i come to bad behaviour, firstly i must say how funny that family guy episode was! obviously as serious as shoplifting is, it was just hilarious. i'm not sure where i fall on this topic, on the one hand i think that a crime is a crime and if you fail to follow the law you should be punished, but then on the other hand multimillionare business owners don't struggle to buy their children new shoes for school. i think it is very much more serious is you actually harm a person whilst you are stealing, mugging for me is extremely low. if you just steal a jumper from primark because you know you can and you cant be bothered to get the 8 quid from your purse then that is inequesable aswell, but atleast no actual person is being harmed first hand. but i also think that the multimillionare has worked hard to make their business, put in their own money, made their own money, why should someone get away with taking it from them just becasue they dont have the cabability to make their own business???
but also i wouldn't like to see children go with out food. but you have to think that sometimes you see these stereotypical shoplifters, claiming its for their children to eat because they literally cant get food to the table, but they still have enough money to have a dog, buy cigarettes, buy a scratch card in the shop...?
ok, in summary i think what im getting at is that i can feel slightly more lenient to those who steal wihtout harming anyone, and more lenient to those who have understandable reasons- a need, to explain why they have stole
breaking the law is immoral as well as illegal, therefore those who do it just for a laugh should be punished. (lois from family guy) and those who steal and harm someone else should be severely punished.
as for stalking! its just wierd. i think as soon as you cross the line- and for me the line is doing anything the person doesnt know about- following, going through bins etc, or anything they do know about and have expressed their dislike of this behaviour. i think that watching someone briefly over the road as you happen to be walking by your window is ok, but if you sit there with an intention of watching them, that is when it becomes more like stalking and less like being nosy.
it reminds me of my favourite film 'blind date' staring bruce willis. bruce goes on a blind date and happens to bump into his dates ex, he then spends the night stalking them, trying to harm them, in this film its very comic, but you can also appreciate the disturbing character of the ex boyfriend- heres the trailor for the film:
for this issure of stalking i dont think you can ever say its right, theres no exceptional circumstance where you can be let off for vialating someones personal space/freedom etc.
